Project – Ovingdean College – Halls of Residence

Nature of works – Two new buildings have been constructed comprising of 62 student accommodation rooms. The scheme involved many challenges. An intelligent strategy had to be adopted to run in a new submain cable from the existing Colleges Main Distribution panel to the new buildings distribution panel.

A number of specialist access system had to be installed in order to maintain security to rooms. A camera surveillance system, addressable fire alarm and emergency lighting system had to be designed and installed to meet the building requirements.

N.Smith Electrical designed a low energy lighting system throughout which presents a cost effective, sustainable, sufficient lighting solution.

This project was carried out with Amiri Construction as the main contractor. A good working relationship was developed on site and the project resulted in a great success with it being finished six weeks before scheduled completion. Another great example of Amiri and N.Smith Electrical working together to get achieve a perfect result.
